Vision: We believe history should be public. Our concept is to create short audio-visual journeys through the past, using photographs, film and oral history recordings. These journeys will then be projected onto historic buildings. Using the built environment to interact with the public is an innovative and memorable way to bring new audiences to history. |

Event: Our unique event will take place at a prominent building in York city, bringing highly visible public displays into the city-centre with sound, film and photography. We intend our event to provide viewers with a creative and innovative portrait of York’s past. |

About Us: Projecting the Past was conceived as a response to the 'History Project', a competition to encourage innovative ideas to promote the heritage sector run by the University of York. Our idea has received funding from the University. The content of our displays will be formed from the photographic collection of York City Archives, the recordings of York Oral History Society and film footage from the Yorkshire Film Archive. |
